Tackling Poverty
Poverty is not a lack of ambition — it is a lack of opportunity. We invest in the foundations families need to lift themselves: income, health, and hope.
The challenge
Nearly 700 million people live in extreme poverty, more than half of them children. Poverty compounds every other challenge we work on — it keeps children out of school, traps survivors in unsafe homes, and cuts lives short.
But poverty is solvable. Decades of evidence show that direct investment in families — cash, tools, training, and infrastructure — creates lasting change that spans generations.
Our approach
How we create opportunity
01
Invest in families
We support direct assistance and savings programs that let families make their own decisions about what they need most.
02
Build livelihoods
We fund vocational training, small-business support, and agricultural programs that turn short-term relief into long-term income.
03
Strengthen communities
We invest in the shared infrastructure — clean water, power, connectivity — that makes every other investment go further.
What we're doing
- Providing seed capital and training for family-run small businesses
- Supporting community savings and loan groups led by local women
- Investing in water, power, and connectivity infrastructure
- Partnering with local organizations that know their communities best
